§ Mr. Goodhewasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department on what date he received the final report from the Local Government Boundary Commission for England on its proposals for future electoral arrangements for the district of St. Albans; and on what date he proposes to make the necessary order under section 51(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 giving effect to the changes involved.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe Local Government Boundary Commission for England submitted its report with final proposals for new electoral arrangements for the City of St. Albans on 4th November 1977. This was one of a number of reports on which I deferred action until the Commission's appeal against the High Court's judgment in a case brought by the London borough of Enfield had been heard. I have now resumed consideration of these reports, but I cannot at present say when an order providing new electoral arrangements for the city of St. Albans will be made.
