§ Mr. MulleyThe number of male Army personnel stationed on the Continent of Europe, including those serving in NATO headquarters but excluding Berlin, was about 55,500 on 30th September 1978. Of these about 3,000 were temporarily deployed in Northern Ireland. In an emergency they could be returned to Germany within 72 hours.
