Mr. MilanEconomic activity has been rising in the United Kingdom and in Scotland this year and some further increase is in prospect over the next year. In my view, this should enhance employment prospects.

§ Mr. MillanSeasonally adjusted unemployment in Scotland has fallen over the course of this year, and is now some 9,500 lower than in January. The reduction of unemployment is a major objective of our economic and industrial policies.
