Mr. Blenkinsop

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) whether he will make a statement on the implementation of the recommendations of the Porchester report on the conservation of Exmoor;

(2) when he proposes to introduce legislation implementing the recommendations of the Sandford committee and of the Select Committees of this House.

The legislation which the Government have promised on the Porchester and the Sandford reports is under preparation and I intend to include with it the legislation recommended by the Expenditure Committee enabling the Countryside Commission to undertake experiments without the need for ministerial approval in each case. The legislation will be introduced as soon as the parliamentary opportunity arises.
