HC Deb 15 November 1978 vol 958 cc231-2W
Mr. Lawson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is his estimate of the total number of people who have moved into new employment during the most recent 12-month period for which figures are available, and during each of the four previous 12-month periods.

Mr. Golding,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 6th November 1978; Vol. 957, c. 27], gave the following information:

Information is not available in the precise form requested. However, using results from the general household survey for those who were employees or self employed at the time of interview, it is estimated that in 1976, the latest year for which information is available, 2¼ million people in employment in Great Britain had worked as an employee for more than one employer in the previous 12 months. The corresponding figures in the four previous years are:

Million
1972 3
1973
1974
1975 3
