HC Deb 08 November 1978 vol 957 cc262-4W
Mr. Powell

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what provision of law is in force under direct rule in Northern Ireland corresponding with Schedule 3 part 9 of the Water Act 1945 as applied by section 11(7)(b) of the Water Act 1973.

Mr. Carter,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 6th November 1978: Vol. 957, c. 85–6], gave the following answer:

There is no direct equivalent in Northern Ireland law to these provisions. The duty of the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland to supply and distribute water is set out in articles 3 and 4 of the Water and Sewerage Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1973.
