§ Mr. Thorneasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many young couples in the Preston borough area have been assisted in house purchase under the Government's savings scheme for first buyers.
§ Mr. ArmstrongThe Home Purchase Assistance and Housing Corporation Guarantee Act 1978 comes into force on 1st December. On that date savings made under the scheme can begin to qualify for benefits under the Act. Details will then be widely available in the press, banks, building societies and post offices. First benefits will be paid two years later.
