asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what arrangements have now been made for payment of compensation to British subjects in Cyprus who suffered loss and damage as a direct result of the Turkish invasion of 1974.

Mr. Luard

The Turkish Cypriot authorities have recently approved the first 24 claims submitted to them by the Claims Commission and it is hoped that the claimants concerned will be paid fairly soon.

The High Commission in Nicosia has been told that the principles established

in accordance with our Brussels Treaty commitment.
