January—September 1978 (a) Exports fob £1,608 million (b) Imports cif £2,966 million Crude deficit (A minus B) £1,359 (Source: United Kingdom Overseas Trade Statistics, SITC Sections 5–8 inclusive).
A continuation of trade at the overall rates applying in the period January to September would result in a crude deficit of £1,812 million over the year as a whole.
