§ Mr. MoyleDecisions on the closure or change of use of hospitals are, subject to the agreement of the community health councils concerned, matters for area health authorities. The factors considered by Hampshire area health authority (teaching) before it decided to withdraw orthopaedic services from the Lord Mayor Treloar hospital in 1982–83 were set out in the consultative document "Strategic Planning of Health Services in Hampshire", which was issued in May 1977. The Winchester and Central Hampshire health district makes very little use of the Lord Mayor Treloar hospital. However, it is planned to increase the number of orthopaedic beds in the district from 34 to 56 next year. It is fur-154W ther proposed that replacement orthopaedic facilities and rehabilitation facilities should be included in the next stage of the redevelopment of the Royal Hants county hospital which is planned to start in 1980–81.
