§ Mr. Tebbitasked the Secretary of State for Social Services by how much, in percentage terms, he expects the total emoluments of the National Health Service works supervisors to be increased as a result of the recent pay settlement.
§ Mr. EnnalsThe works supervisors received an increase of just within 10 per cent. in the 1977–78 pay round. The recent settlement related to the introduction of a new grading structure in which works staff will compete for new posts and it is not possible at present to give the total increase in emoluments for the group of any individual. Staff who are appointed will receive the appropriate salary from dates of appointment which will vary, and any increase in salary will depend on existing salary and the salary of the new post. The new grades will be given an opportunity to participate more widely in self-financing incentive bonus schemes. Allowances up to 15 per cent. of basic salary from such participation will depend upon the savings from the schemes.
