§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisAt the latest date for which figures are available, 1st October 1978, there were 731,600 civil servants in post. No significant change in that level is expected by the end of the year. The corresponding figure for 1st January 1978 was 738,000, giving a reduction to date of 6,400.
