§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisThe registration of Statutory Instruments began in 1948, on the coming in force of the Statutory Instruments Act 1946. The number of instruments made in 1948 and succeeding years was as follows:

It is, however, estimated that the number of general instruments in force is of the order of 12,000. No estimate can be given for local instruments, many of which remain in force for a short time only.
