§ Mr. David Youngasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether his Department will collect up-to-date information about the characteristics of households who are first time house purchasers, householders becoming local authority tenants, owner-occupier households moving and new tenants of private landlords.
§ Mr. FreesonInformation on these and other housing topics will be collected in June-July this year in a survey of those who have recently moved. This survey will be based on, and supplement, data already collected in the recent National Dwelling and Housing Survey. In all about 8,000 to 10,000 addresses will be visited by interviewers engaged for OPCS and the pattern of questions will follow the form of the two previous movers' surveys held in 1972 and 1974 respectively. Answers will be treated in strict confidence and all results so processed that details relating to individuals cannot be obtained. The estimated cost of the survey is about £100,000.
