HC Deb 24 May 1978 vol 950 cc611-3W
Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether money is to be available for the modernising of Divis Flats, Falls Road, Belfast, and Annadale Flats, Ormeau Road, Belfast.

Mr. Carter

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has not submitted

Northern Ireland; and if he will give a classified breakdown of this number;

(2) how many jobs have been saved because of the implementation of temporary employment subsidy in Northern Ireland; and if he will give a classified breakdown of this number.

Mr. Concannon

17,255 jobs were being supported by temporary employment subsidy at 14th May 1978, the most recent available date. A total of 29,604 jobs have been supported since the inception of the temporary employment scheme on 18th August 1975 up to 14th May 1978. A classified breakdown of these jobs by industry is as follows:

proposals for the modernisation of either Divis Flats or Annadale Flats. I am, however, aware of the major problems which have arisen within the older part of the Divis complex and of the proposals which the Housing Executive has under consideration, and I will view these sympathetically when they are put before me. So far as Annadale Flats are concerned, I understand that there are no obvious structural defects to be dealt with and normal maintenance is being carried out by the executive.

Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the total amount of rent arrears owed by tenants of Divis Flats, Falls Road, Belfast.

Mr. Carter

The total amount of rent, rates and heating charges owed by the occupants of the Divis Flats complex on 8th May 1978 was £207,626.

Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the total amount of rent arrears owed by tenants of Annadale Flats, Ormeau Road, Belfast.

Mr. Carter

The total amount of rent and rates owed by the occupants of the Annadale Flats on 8th May 1978 was £23,955.
