§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what instructions he has given to the Registrar General for Marriages over the reporting to the Home Office of the alleged legal status of non-nationals applying to marry in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesI have no authority to give instructions to the Registrar General, but there have been standing arrangements for over 50 years between the Home Office and the Registrar General's office whereby the Home Office is informed of 175W cases in which a local superintendent registrar has good reason to suspect that a proposed marriage of a person from abroad has been arranged for the sole purpose of evading immigration controls.
