§ Mr. Merlyn ReesNo Metropolitan Police computer holds such records. The names and fingerprint references of people charged with recordable offences are added to an index on the police national computer. This information is available only to police. It is removed upon notification of acquittal, except where Section 6(3) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956 and Section 27(3)(a) of the Theft Act 1968 apply and unless the computer already contains the name and reference because the person had been convicted of other recordable offences.
