§ Miss Margaret JacksonFrom the recent school building survey it is estimated that in January 1975, 1.9 million pupils in maintained primary, middle and secondary schools in England and Wales were in schools some or all of whose buildings dated from before 1903. About 1.4 million of these pupils were in primary schools. No comparable information is available for other recent years.
