HL Deb 16 May 1978 vol 392 cc299-300WA
The Lord Bishop of LONDON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In the light of their reply of 19th January 1978 (Official Report, col. 265), what progress has been made in the reinstatement of Cromwell Green, on what date it is expected that the perimeter hoarding will be removed, and on what date it is expected that the Cromwell statue will be uncovered.

The PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE, DEPARTMENT of the ENVIRONMENT (Baroness Birk)

The programme of reinstatement of Cromwell Green has been delayed by about one month because of work on essential flood precautions at the Palace of Westminster undertaken on the instructions of the House of Commons Services Committee. Work will now begin this month. The hoarding will be removed by about June and the statue uncovered when site work nears completion in August.
