§ Mr. Muddasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will set up a full inquiry into the future demand for 568W Cornish-produced tin, and to explore ways of safeguarding production and employment in the Cornwall minerals-based industries.
§ Mr. CryerWhile I certainly share the general concern at the decision by the owners of the Wellington and Wheal Jane mines so close them, and strongly support the view that no possibility which would offer a reasonable expectation of operating either of them on a viable basis should be ignored, I do not consider that a general inquiry would prove of practical value in the cases in question.
