§ The Prime MinisterThe Government will encourage people both at home and abroad to buy British products. Progress can best be made by encouraging industry itself to "sell British" and "buy British". In particular, large companies should play a larger role in improving the performance of their British suppliers of components and give them more information about their future plans and needs. Retailers should develop closer links with British suppliers. The Government are inviting the Confederation of British Industry and the TUC to co-operate in initiatives in this area.
