HC Deb 10 May 1978 vol 949 c539W
Mr. Fry

asked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) whether the Severn Bridge charges inquiry will consider representations with regard to the principle of levying tolls on the crossings;

(2) whether he has decided the terms of reference for the Dartford Tunnel charges inquiry;

(3) whether he has decided the terms of reference for the Severn Bridge charges inquiry; and if he will make a statement;

(4) whether the Dartford Tunnel charges inquiry will consider representations with regard to the principle of levying tolls on the crossing.

Mr. William Rodgers

At both these inquiries the inspectors will be asked to consider the particular proposals for toll increases together with objections to them.

The principle of levying tolls is a matter of policy which is outside the scope of individual local inquiries.
