Mr. Lawson

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he will publish a table showing index numbers of industrial production per person employed on production industries, at constant prices, for each member country of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development for which figures are available, from 1973 to 1977, taking 1973 as 100 in each case and taking the 1977 figure as the average of the first two quarters as published in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Main Economic Indicators and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Labour Force Statistics Quarterly Supplement;

(2) if he will publish a table showing index numbers of gross domestic product on an expenditure basis, at constant prices, per head of the employed labour force, for each member country of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development for which figures are available, from 1973 to 1977, taking 1973 at 100 in each case and taking the 1977 figure as the average of the first two quarters as published in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Main Economic Indicators and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Labour Force Statistics Quarterly Supplement.

The United Kingdom is the only member country of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development for which figures are available. Data available in this country for other members are not on a consistent basis for the time period requested. The United Kingdom information is shown in the table below:
