§ The Prime MinisterMy right hon. Friend the Home Secretary is empowered under the Cremation Act 1902 to make regulations for the maintenance and inspection of public and private crematoria. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment is empowered under the Local Government Act 1972 to make regulations for management and control of local authority cemeteries. Local authorities have no responsibilities for the conduct and operation of private crematoria and cemeteries.
