§ Mr. Ian Lloydasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he has taken any steps to provide patients suffering from retinitis pigmentosa with the night vision aids of the type now being made commercially available in the United States by the Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation, details of which have been sent to him.
§ Mr. MoyleThese aids involve electronic image intensification and are very expensive. I am advised that they might be helpful to only a limited number of selected patients. Consultant ophthalmologists may prescribe these aids if they are clinically indicated, once they become commercially available and subject to the local availability of resources.
