Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what has been the total cost of running the Medical Research Council, including all main constituent costs of any sort whatsoever, namely, expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting, maintenance, &c., in the latest 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79;

(2) what has been the total cost of running the Social Science Research Council, including all main constituent costs of any sort whatsoever, such as expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting, maintenance, &c., in the latest 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79;

(3) what has been the total cost of running the Agricultural Research Council, including all main constituent costs of any sort whatsoever, such as expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting, maintenance, &c., in the latest 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79;

(4) what has been the total cost of running the Natural Environment Research Council, including all main constituent costs of any sort whatsoever, such as expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting, maintenance, &c., in the latest 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79;

(5) what has been the total cost of running the Science Research Council, including all main constituent costs of any sort whatsoever, such as expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting, maintenance, &c., in the last 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79.
