§ Mr. Rifkindasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) how many divers or diving supervisors, having duties of employment of the type referred to in Clause 24 of the Finance Bill, paid tax under Schedule E in 1977–78;
(2) whether he will state the number of people who would pay tax under Schedule D rather than Schedule E, following the implementation of Clause 24 of the Finance Bil.
§ Mr. Robert Sheldon, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 2nd May 1978; Vol. 949, c. 105], gave the following information:
On the basis of thise employed last year, about 1,500 divers and diving supervisors will, if Clause 24 of the Finance Bill is enacted, pay tax under Schedule D instead of Schedule E.
