Mr. Fitt

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons at pesent signing the unemployment register in Derry City have been unemployed for more than five, six, seven, eight, nine and 10 years.

I regret that information in the precise form requested is not readily available and could not be provided without disproportionate cost. Information more readily available indicates that at 9th March 1978, 378 persons signing the unemployment register at Londonderry employment service office have been unemployed for more than five years.

Mr. Fitt

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons between the ages of 55 years and 65 years have signed the unemployment register for the full 10-year period.

Information more readily available indicates that at 9th March 1978, 694 persons between the ages of 55 and 65 years had been unemployed for more than five years.
