HC Deb 04 May 1978 vol 949 cc277-8W
44. Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will seek to extend the provisions of the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973 so as to include discrimination against members of the forces and persons in Crown employment as an illegal act.

Mr. Mason

The Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973 already makes it unlawful for public bodies to discriminate, or aid, induce or incite another to discriminate, in the discharge of functions relating to Northern Ireland against any person or class of persons on the ground of religious belief or political opinion.
