HC Deb 04 May 1978 vol 949 c234W
Mr. Patrick Jenkin

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what advice has been given by the Chief Medical Officer on the health benefits of the extension of free milk to children between the ages of 7 and 11 years.

Mr. Ennals

I am advised that while it is not possible to say categorically that the extension of free milk to all children between the ages of 7 and 11 years would improve the nutritional status of school children in general, there is no question but that some children from socially deprived backgrounds will benefit from the restoration of school milk.
