Mr. Fitt

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what has been the reduction in the numbers of unemployed registered disabled people since the inception of the programmes listed in the letter of the Under-Secretary of State to the hon. Member for Belfast, West on 6th April 1978.

Mr. Concannon

On 9th June 1977, the date of the last count prior to the inception of the programme, the number of registered disabled persons who were registered as unemployed stood at 2,232. On 13th April 1978 the number stood at 2,138, a reduction of 94, or 4.2 per cent.
