HC Deb 04 May 1978 vol 949 cc210-1W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the implications for the security situation in Latin America to the proposed supply of British-designed frigates to Argentina.

Mr. Rowlands

In any sale of warships there are several years between the award of a contract and the delivery of a first ship, and many years until completion. It is therefore impossible to make a statement now on the implications for the security situation in Latin America at the time of completion of such a contract.
