§ Mr. Merlyn ReesPolice crime prevention activities are the responsibility of chief officers of police. Frequent and regular consultations take place between the Home Office, chief officers and others involved in crime prevention, and a number of joint studies and reports have been made. Information about crime prevention activities is also circulated by the Home Office to all police forces, and guidance has recently been issued about the activities of crime prevention panels. Expenditure by local police forces on crime prevention attracts the same Government grant as other police expenditure.
