HC Deb 02 May 1978 vol 949 c49W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) whether it is intended that minerals, excluding coal and petroleum, used in the generation of electricity, referred to in Clause 3(f) of the draft Electricity Bill set forth in Command Paper No. 7134, are intended to cover uranium-bearing ores only;

(2) whether it is intended that minerals, excluding coal and petroleum, used in the generation of electricity, referred to in Clause 3(f) of the draft Electricity Bill set forth in Command Paper No. 7134, are intended to cover limestone based on the Corporation's requirements of the mineral for fluidised bed-combustion systems for sulphur removal.

Mr. Eadie

The power in question covers any mineral other than coal and petroleum used in the generation of electricity. Uranium would therefore be covered, and so would limestone if it were to be so used.
