HC Deb 02 May 1978 vol 949 cc72-3W
Mr. Holland

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in the Official Report the full-time occupation and part-time Government appointments held by each part-time member of the Health and Safety Commission.

Mr. John Grant

The full-time occupations and part-time Government appointments held by each part-time member of the Health and Safety Commission are as follows:

representations he has received in connection with the industrial dispute at Southampton Docks following the additional payment granted to dockers operating the new berth designed specifically for South African containers; if the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service has been asked to intervene; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Harold Walker

I have received no such representations, but my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport has received a letter from the British Importers Confederation asking him to intervene in the dispute. ACAS has not been invited to intervene by either side involved in the dispute, but its services are available whenever they are required. I do not think it would be appropriate for me to comment further at this stage.
