HC Deb 02 May 1978 vol 949 c63W
22. Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he is satisfied that employees off work under Section 29 of the Employment Protection Act are adequately protected by the 26 weeks' maximum entitlement under the Act to normal weekly pay.

Mr. John Grant

Under Section 29 of the Employment Protection Act, employees suspended from their normal work under certain specified health and safety regulations are entitled to receive from their employer a normal week's pay for every week they are suspended, up to a maximum of 26 weeks. I am satisfied that this period is reasonable, but if my hon. Friend knows of particular difficulties which have arisen, I should be grateful if she would let me have details.
