HC Deb 23 March 1978 vol 946 cc696-7W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied that there is adequate security in the police force to prevent a repetition of cases similiar to that of P.C. Williams, of Inkbarrow, Worcestershire, who was able to commit several robberies over a period, and then was able to investigate them.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

I am satisfied that supervising officers are alert to the need to prevent such cases, but no system of supervision, whether in the police force or in any other organisation, can be infallible.
