HC Deb 23 March 1978 vol 946 cc795-6W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will now announce his decision on the proposal of Knowsley Council to demolish vandalised three-storey flats in Kirkby and respond to the council's request that subsidies should be continued in respect of all flats demolished.

Mr. Freeson

I have already advised the borough council that, because of the particular problems which it faces, subsidy will not be discontinued in respect of the demolition of certain properties. The question of a further programme of demolition, other than for reasons of safety, is being considered as part of an action programme which is being prepared jointly by the borough and county councils, in consultation with the Department's regional office.
