asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he proposes to promote a greater equalisation of incomes and wealth.

Mr. Healey

I have been particularly concerned about the effects of income tax at the lower end of the range of taxable incomes, and wish to maintain the great advances we have made in the real value of pensions and social security benefits. The House will excuse me if I do not anticipate my Budget Statement.
