HC Deb 23 March 1978 vol 946 c657W
Mr. Heffer

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will give details of the minor changes to the rules of the regional development grants scheme which were referred to in the Minister of State's answer to the hon. Member for Liverpool, Walton on 27th February.

Mr. Alan Williams

Yes. In future, areas of land below high water mark, and narrow strips of land extending from or joining premises, will not normally be regarded as forming part of premises for the purposes of the regional development grants scheme. The main effect of these changes will be that such land will neither be accepted as bringing separate premises within a quarter of a mile of each other for the purpose of aggregating them under Section 2(6) of the 1972 Industry Act nor, where the land actually joins two otherwise separate premises, be regarded as making them one.
