§ Mrs. Jegerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether arrangements have yet been finalised with the Turkish Government for payment of compensation to United Kingdom citizens who suffered loss and injury as a result of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974.
§ Mr. LuardSettlement of British compensation claims is to be undertaken by the Turkish Cypriot administration who formally established a compensation commission in January. Publication of the commission's terms of reference and the date it is to begin work are expected soon. My hon. Friend, the Minister of State, stressed the urgency we attach to this matter when he visited Cyprus earlier this month.
