§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will give a breakdown, by rank and Department of all those senior civil servants who have retired or resigned: each of the last three years; and what employment they then took up.
§ Mr. Charles R. Morris, pursuant to his reply (Official Report, 10th March 1978; Vol. 945, c. 826), gave the following information
683WThe information requested on retirements and resignations is given in Table 1 below. There is no comprehensive central record of the subsequent employment of former civil sevants. However in the case of certain business appointment:, the Government's prior assent must be obtained. The relevant rules are set out in paragraph 9961 of the Civil Service Pay and Conditions of Service Code, a copy of which is in the Libary. The information thus available on business appointments is given in Table 2 below. It is not comprehensive because not all such cases at Under-Secretary level have to be notified to my Department, and once assent is given to an appointment there is no obligation to inform my Department whether it is actually taken up.
