HC Deb 23 March 1978 vol 946 c744W
Mr. Wetch

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the supply of 50p coins.

Mr. Denzil Davies

There have been exceptional demands for this coin in recent weeks and the Royal Mint has been unable to meet in full all the orders placed by the banks. Production has already been increased to the maximum possible on existing plant and will be raised by a further 60 per cent. within the coming weeks.
