As at 31st December 1977, the latest date for which figures are available 2,342 potentially redundant jobs in the man-made fibre industry were being supported by temporary employment subsidy and this represents 7.5 per cent. of jobs in the industry. The estimated cumulative cost to 31st December 1977 was £3.2 million.
