§ Mr. Gordon Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if the Social Work Services Group has investigated the continuity of supervision in each region; if he will publish figures showing in percentage terms where there has been one or more changes in the supervising social worker during the currency of supervision orders; and if any recommendations or directions have been made to social work directors thereanent.
§ Mr. McElhoneInformation is not available centrally on the frequency of changes in the supervising social worker during the currency of supervision orders. The main factors which have increased the frequency of staff changes in recent years are the secondment of staff for training and the development of services requiring the creation of new posts. Local authorities are fully aware of the need to secure the maximum level of continuity of supervision consistent with the, other demands made upon their staff.
