§ Mr. Carter,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 17th March 1978; Vol. 946, c. 398], gave the following information:
The estimated annual gallonage of milk provided free to pupils in Northern Ireland is 813,000. This relates mainly to children between the ages of 5 and 7 but includes some older and younger pupils. If free milk were made available to all pupils up to the age of 16 years, it is estimated that 2,900,000 gallons would be required, assuming 100 per cent. uptake.
