Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many (a) improvement notices; (b) prohibition notices; (c) prosecutions, and (d) convictions there have been under the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974, in the years 1975, 1976, 1977 and in the first two months of 1978.

Mr. John Grant,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 14th March 1978; Vol. 946, c. 71], gave the following information:

I am advised by the Chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that the numbers of improvement and prohibition notices served of informations laid, and convictions secured by Her Majesty's inspectors of health and safety, by agency inspectors, and by local authority inspectors, under powers conferred by the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974 are as stated in the attached tables.
