§ Mrs. Winifred Ewingasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will make a statement about the future development and use of Prestwick Airport.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisThe White Paper on airports policy stated that the future roles of Prestwick and other airports in Scotland should be a matter for the proposed Scottish Assembly. In the meantime, the Government have confirmed the existing policies for the allocation of air traffic among the Scottish airports and that Prestwick will continue 431W to be the principal airport for trans-Atlantic traffic. Existing facilities at Prestwick are generally adequate to meet the forecast demand and the British Airports Authority has no plans for major developments at the airport.
