§ 38. Mr. Litterickasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is his Department's estimate of the savings in a year to the United Kingdom's balance of payments which would accrue if all grain imports to the United Kingdom originated from non-EEC sources at current prices and free of EEC levies.
§ Mr. BishopI regret that no realistic estimate is available because of the difficulties of predicting reliably the quantities and prices of grain imports from non-EEC sources under the conditions 285W postulated. The levies on such imports currently accrue to the United Kingdom Exchequer, and are not a charge upon the balance of payments.
