§ Mr. MarksResponsibility for appointing Commons Commissioners rests with my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor. At present there are three full-time and one part-time Commissioners and efforts are being made to recruit more. Some 26,400 disputed registrations and 4,800 claims to ownership remain to be heard and, given the present complement of Commissioners, this is expected to take another 10–12 years.
